In December 2011 there was a post on the VAF-5D2 optical anti-aliasing filter by Mosaic Engineering. This is a continuation of that story. The VAF-7D filter is like a twin but it is working on Canon 7D and produces the same profound correction of 1080p video moiré and aliasing.
The filter you can order in the Mosaic Engineering online store for $325.
The video presents how the 7D work with and without the filter. In short test you can see footage of resolution chart and moiré pattern interference caused by the fine nylon fabric of a lens pouch. The difference you'll see the best in the full native 1920x1080 resolution.
- No reduction of 7D 1080p video resolution for most lenses.
- True optical correction before video image capture – no postproduction software filters or processing.
- Easily installed or removed in less than 20 seconds.
- 7D H.264 codec compresses with better quality with the VAF-7D, because false, high-frequency, aliased image components are eliminated before compression.
